A woman has died after a fire ripped through her flat in Coalville, completely destroying the property.
The woman, who was in her 60s, was rushed to the hospital after being rescued from the flat in Wortley Close, Coalville, on Sunday morning (May 1).
She was inside the property when the fire started, at around 8.25am. It completely engulfed the flat, leaving her in a life threatening condition.
However, after being rushed to hospital she unfortunately died later in the day.
A spokesman for the fire service confirmed that the blaze left the flat with 100 per cent damage.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
In a statement, a spokesman for Leicestershire Police confirmed that a a woman who was inside the property was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.
“Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner”, they added.
“Identification of the deceased is a matter for HM Coroner”.
