The 21-year-old, of Leicestershire, has been released on bail and is due to be sentenced at Leicester Crown Court on 26 May.

Wallace was arrested in October 2023 after police received information about his activity. At the time, he was serving as a Special Police Constable.

Officers seized two mobile phones, which were later analysed. Investigators found 122 Category A images, 217 Category B images and 112 Category C images. The categories reflect the severity of the material, with Category A being the most serious.

The offences were found to have taken place between December 2018 and October 2023.

Leicestershire Police said Wallace was suspended following his arrest and later resigned. A gross misconduct hearing in July 2024 concluded he would have been dismissed without notice had he remained in the role.

Chief Constable David Sandall described the offences as “horrific” and praised the force’s online abuse team for securing the conviction. He added that such behaviour would never be tolerated within the police.

At the time of the misconduct hearing, Wallace was granted anonymity due to the ongoing investigation. That anonymity has now been lifted following the conclusion of the case.
