The discovery was made on Saturday (May 28), when Leicestershire Police raided the industrial unit, in Baker Street, and arrested four men.

Details of the successful raid were posted on Facebook.

“Officers from North West completed an enforcement warrant over the weekend. This resulted in four arrests, two charged and remanded to court. Investigation continues so watch out!” said a spokesman.

“Nearly three quarters of a million pounds worth of drugs recovered!”

Two men – a 36-year-old who gave his address as Baker Street, and a 23-year-old man of no fixed address – have been charged with the production of cannabis. The two other men, aged 52 and 66, who were also arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said: “The charges relate to a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act that was executed at the unit – nearly 1,000 cannabis plants were recovered from the premises.”
