Four of Leicestershire’s most popular country parks have been recognised among the best in the UK after receiving the prestigious Green Flag Award – the international benchmark for well-managed parks and green spaces.
Beacon Hill Country Park near Loughborough, Market Bosworth Country Park, Snibston Colliery Park in Coalville, and Watermead (North) are all managed by Leicestershire County Council. They are now part of a select group of more than 2,250 parks and green spaces across the UK awarded the Green Flag by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.

Councillor Adam Tilbury, cabinet member for environment and flooding, said: “The news that four of our country parks have once again achieved Green Flag status is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our staff and volunteers. These parks are cherished places for residents and visitors to unwind, connect with nature, and enjoy outdoor activities. This award is a well-earned recognition of their ongoing commitment.”
Paul Todd MBE, Green Flag Award Scheme Manager at Keep Britain Tidy, added: “I congratulate everyone involved with Beacon Hill, Market Bosworth, Snibston, and Watermead (North) country parks. The Green Flag Award recognises the incredible efforts of staff and volunteers to meet the high standards we set. They should be very proud of this achievement.
“High-quality green spaces like these are essential – they improve health and wellbeing, offer safe spaces for communities to gather, and play a vital role in enhancing the places where we live and work.”
