Her daughter Linda and her granddaughter Alex joined her for afternoon tea and Ada talked about some of her memories over the last 100 years.

Born in Islington, London, in 1918, Ada was evacuated to Leicester during the Second World War where she met her husband and had two children. She ran her own hairdressing business in Aylestone until she retired at age 60 and has been living at The Lawns Care Home for 3 years.

Jackie, the home’s Magic Moments Club Coordinator, described her as an “amazing lady.”

“Ada is an amazing lady who enjoys reminiscence activities and listening to Gilbert & Sullivan operas,” she said. “Everyone here at The Lawns is very fond of her and we are looking forward to helping Ada make lots more happy memories.”

When asked about the secret to her longevity, Ada put it all down to “good food and hard work.”
