The popular event takes place on Saturday, 2nd August, centred around Victoria Park, with a lively parade making its way through the city centre.
This year’s parade will begin at Moat Community College, with speeches scheduled outside the Leicester Caribbean Centre at 12:30pm, before setting off into the city at around 1pm, eventually arriving at Victoria Park.
The full parade route includes: Maidstone Road, Sparkenhoe Street, Swain Street, St Georges Way, Charles Street, Humberstone Gate, Clock Tower, Gallowtree Gate, Granby Street, Northampton Street, Charles Street (again), London Road, Granville Road, and into Victoria Park.
Rolling road closures will be in place along the route from 12:30pm to approximately 4pm, with temporary parking restrictions enforced throughout the day to ensure the parade can pass safely.
Additionally, Granville Road and a section of Regent Road (between University Road and Granville Road) will be closed to traffic from 6am to 10pm.
Festivities in Victoria Park will continue until 8pm, with nearby parking and waiting restrictions remaining in place during the event.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, especially those attending the Red Roses’ final Women’s Rugby World Cup warm-up match against Spain at the Leicester Tigers stadium on Welford Road, which kicks off at 3pm.
