LEICESTER COUPLE CHOSEN AS FACES OF NATIONAL SAVINGS CAMPAIGN

A married couple from Leicester have been chosen as the faces of a new national campaign, which highlights the importance of saving.

Sandeep Kaur and Sanjeev Jassal, aged 36 and 37, appeared in adverts for the Yorkshire Building Society last year, when they had just got engaged.

This year, their story has moved on, as they’ve recently had a baby and are saving hard so they can buy their own home.

The couple will be featured in adverts in branch, press and online, including their local Yorkshire Building Society branch in Leicester’s Horsefair Street, sharing their views on the importance of saving and how it is helping them to achieve their financial goals and dreams.

Asked why the couple had been chosen to front the campaign, a spokesperson for the Yorkshire Building Society, told the Leicester Times: “We loved Sandeep and Sanjeev’s story – they were originally put forward for the campaign by one of our branch colleagues last year. When we met them, they had just got engaged and were saving with Yorkshire Building Society for their wedding, which is a milestone life moment that many people can relate to, and just thought they were perfect for the campaign.

“We stayed in touch with them over the past year and were delighted to hear they had got married, had their first child and were now saving to become homeowners for the first time. We thought including them again in this year’s photoshoot would be a lovely continuation of their story and demonstrates how our savings priorities change throughout our lives. We are proud that they’re once again the faces of our marketing campaign.”

Sandeep has been a member of the society for over 20 years, and started saving when she was still at school.

“I’ve always been a big believer in putting money aside – that’s why I started saving when I was just 16,” she said.

“Now, we have two main savings goals – firstly saving for our baby to give him the best possible future; and secondly we want our own family home, so our next big step is saving for a deposit to get onto the property ladder.

“Being a member of the Society has really helped me to achieve my savings goals over the years,” she added. “I also love the great customer service and the personal experience of going into branch. The savings app is also really useful, and allows me to keep track of our savings at my fingertips, which is very convenient as well as reassuring.”
