Leicester man swaps Peugeot 107 for £31k Audi A1 after winning big on BOTB

Leap days usually get a bad rap for being unlucky, but a Leicester man has shattered that superstition after winning a new car and a cash prize worth over £31,000.

Dumitru Liteanu won an Audi A1 Sportback worth £29,000 alongside a £2,000 cash prize courtesy of online competition specialist BOTB.

He got a call from BOTB presenter Christian Williams on February 29, whilst in the middle of his shift at Caterpillar.

“I’m shaking. I can’t believe it – my heart is beating so fast!” shouted the 34-year-old, before going on to emit some rather colourful expletives!

“I currently drive a Peugeot 107, but the Audi looks amazing. I can’t believe it. I have never won anything before!”

“The cash will provide me with the opportunity to invest in some shares or go on holiday and spend time with friends and family,” he added.

BOTB hands over the keys to a dream car each week as well as a lifestyle prize. Founded by William Hindmarch in 1999, it has given away £64m worth of cars so far.

Christian said: “It’s an amazing car. I love driving these and I am sure Dumitru is going to love owning one if he decides to take it rather than the cash alternative. If he does opt for the money, I’m sure he’ll have a great break. He was clearly in shock when I told him the news he had won. I think he’s officially set a record for the most expletives in a BOTB surprise reaction!”
