Events are being held across the UK to mark the third anniversary of the first national Covid-19 lockdown.
Three years ago today, (Thursday, March 23), Boris Johnson announced the first national lockdown, telling the nation that they must stay at home, and should only leave for essential reasons such as buying food and exercising once per day.
The then Prime Minister called Covid-19 “the biggest threat this country has faced for decades.”
In Leicester, the city is marking the third anniversary, through an annual fundraising campaign, which was set up in the city back in 2021.
‘Always in Our Thoughts’ is the brainchild of Leicester media agency, Pukaar Group.
The national campaign is set to run across the month of March to mark the anniversary of the first UK lockdown, and to raise funds for two selected causes: The Care of Police Survivors (COPS) charity and the Leicester Children’s Hospital Appeal.
To show support for this cause, people can purchase a badge depicting a yellow flower, which symbolises peace and unity, for a price of £1.
