A Leicester Sainsbury’s store is set to close permanently this weekend after serving customers for decades.
The store, which sits in Humberstone Gate, is set to close from 4pm this Saturday, September 24, on a permanent basis.
It has been serving customers for decades, since opening its doors in 1963.
Although it is not known has many staff members will be affected by the closer, Sainsbury’s said that that they are supporting those who are.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “Our Leicester Humberstone Gate Supermarket will close this weekend. We understand this will be an unsettling time for those affected and we are to support them in every way we can.
“For further background, we regularly review our estate and the decision to close a store is never taken lightly and is based on a range of factors,” they added.
“Customers can continue to shop with us at other nearby stores, including Leicester North and Fosse Park Superstores.”
