Leicester’s Highcross to Host Vibrant Diwali Bazaar This October

Leicester is preparing to light up once again as the city gears up for the return of the Diwali Bazaar at Highcross.

Set to take place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th October in St Peter’s Square, this two-day cultural celebration will transform the heart of the city into a bustling hub of traditional food, festive shopping, and live entertainment — all in honour of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.

With over 25 stalls showcasing everything from traditional clothing, bangles and bindis to handcrafted gifts, Indian sweets, and savoury street food, the event promises a sensory feast for visitors of all backgrounds. Alongside the market, attendees can take part in interactive workshops, community-led activities, and enjoy a range of cultural performances throughout the weekend.

Leicester is widely known for hosting some of the largest Diwali celebrations outside of India, and the Diwali Bazaar has become a key highlight in the city’s cultural calendar. Organisers are encouraging locals and visitors alike to join in the festivities, whether they are long-time attendees or experiencing Diwali in Leicester for the first time.

“The Diwali Bazaar is more than a market — it’s a celebration of light, flavour and tradition that brings our community together,” said a spokesperson for the event.

“Whether you’re a regular at Leicester’s Diwali festivities or discovering them for the first time, this year’s Bazaar promises an unforgettable weekend for all ages.”
