Lonsdale Mews Residents Celebrate Love with Valentine’s Day Tea for Two Special Couples

Ahead of Valentine’s Day, Care UK’s Lonsdale Mews on Farley Way hosted a romantic celebration for two extraordinary couples whose combined years of marriage total more than 127.

Residents Margaret and Ken Adams, along with Jim and Dinah Payne, enjoyed a special afternoon tea prepared by the home’s Head Chef. The event was set against a backdrop of festive Valentine’s decorations, and the couples’ favourite songs filled the room, prompting staff and residents to dance along.

The celebration also encouraged the couples to reflect on their early days together and share the secrets behind their enduring relationships.

Margaret, 95, and Ken Adams, 96, have been married for 60 years. Margaret, originally from Scotland, met Ken in his hometown of Worcester while visiting on holiday. When asked what they love most about each other, the couple replied it was “the life they have made together.”

Jim, 92, and Dinah Payne, 93, met at the University of Bristol while studying veterinary practices and quickly discovered shared interests. Their advice to younger couples: “Take your time, get to know each other and be on the same page.”

Jo Davison, Home Manager at Lonsdale Mews, said: “All of the couples at Lonsdale Mews are wonderful, and we could all learn a thing or two from their happy marriages. Valentine’s Day was the perfect opportunity for them to reminisce and share their pearls of wisdom. Many residents also shared stories of past loves, which made for a truly memorable afternoon.”

She added: “We’d like to thank the couples for their wise words, and we wish them a very happy Valentine’s Day.”
