Leicester-born R&B star Mahalia is returning to the city for an intimate performance designed to mark the release of her second album ‘IRL’.
The 25-year-old is taking to the stage at Leicester’s Y Theatre on Saturday, July 15 to promote ‘IRL’ – her first studio album in nearly four years.
The new album (which stands for ‘In Real Life’) will be the follow-up to Mahalia’s 2019-released LP, ‘Love and Compromise’.
Released on July 14, it will contain 13 tracks, including the current single, ‘Terms and Conditions’. A second track from the album, called ‘Cheat’ has also been released, and features American singer-songwriter Jojo.
British rapper Stormzy is also part of ‘IRL’s’ star studded feature list it has been revealed.
Mahalia has described her latest album as a ‘labour of love’.
“Everything about this album is really a love letter to myself. It’s a reflection of life, love and everything in between,” she said on her Instagram. “It’s the how, the who, the when and the why.”
After uploading covers online and being championed by Ed Sheeran, Mahalia signed her first record deal at the tender age of 13. She grew in success after releasing songs like ‘I Wish I Missed My Ex’, ‘What You Did’ and ‘Grateful’.
To promote ‘IRL’ Mahalia has announced a UK and European tour starting in October.
Tickets for the Leicester Y Theatre show can be bought from Dice.fm for just £18.50. Doors will open at 7.30pm on the night with Mahalia expected on stage from 8.30pm.
