A man who stabbed his victim over 17 times during a brutal attack in Leicester, has pleaded guilty to attempted murder.
Kai Turner, plead guilty to the charge during a hearing at Leicester Crown Court, on Monday (March 6), with an officer commenting that “it’s a miracle” that his 21-year-old victim survived the attack.
The incident happened on the evening of Friday, January 27, in Belgrave Gate. Police received several reports about a man being assaulted.
An officer driving to the scene was approached by the victim who got into the vehicle and informed him that he had been stabbed.
The victim was taken to hospital where medics confirmed that he was in a life-threatening condition.
Enquiries at the scene revealed several witnesses to the attack and dash cam footage showed part of the incident.
The defendant, Kai Turner, was quickly identified by the victim and CCTV footage from the incident assisted in tracking his movements after the incident.
Turner, 20, of Lee Bank, Middleway, Birmingham, was chased and arrested nearby, and he was subsequently charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed weapon.
At Monday’s hearing, Turner pleaded guilty to both offences, and is due to be sentenced on Friday, May 12.
“The victim was stabbed more than 17 times during the attack. Even though he is slowly recovering from the injuries he sustained, the mental scars will remain with him for much longer,” said Detective Constable Gemma Allen, the investigating officer.
“We are pleased Turner has admitting to the offences and spared the victim the ordeal of reliving the events of that evening in court.
“Turner was carrying a knife and had no qualms in using it, not just once but multiple time. There is absolutely no excuse for his actions. It’s a miracle that a life wasn’t lost that day.”
