Misconduct hearing for officer accused of using ‘sexually demeaning’ language to colleagues

A police constable is due to face a gross misconduct hearing for allegedly using ‘sexually demeaning’ language with colleagues.

It is reported that between January and February 2024, the officer, who has not been named for ‘welfare support reasons’, breached standards of professional behaviour namely authority, respect and courtesy; discreditable conduct; and equality and diversity.

It is alleged that on two occasions between January and February 2024, the officer used offensive and/or inappropriate language when speaking to male colleagues.

It is also alleged that during a separate incident in February 2024, the officer used sexually inappropriate and/or demeaning language when speaking to a female colleague.

A gross misconduct hearing into the police constable is now to take place at Leicestershire Police force headquarters in Enderby tomorrow (Tuesday, December 3). It is scheduled to last three days.

It will look to determine if the officer has breached standards of professional behaviour namely authority, respect and courtesy; discreditable conduct; and equality and diversity.
