NEW MURDER ARREST IN CONNECTION WITH FATAL CRASH ON A46

A LEICESTER man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal collision on the A46 last month.

The 20-year-old man, of Leicester, was arrested yesterday morning. He currently remains in police custody.

The arrest is in connection with a collision which happened at around 1.30am on Friday, February 11 on the A46 just before the Six Hills junction and involved a silver Skoda Fabia which left the carriageway.

Two men, Saqib Hussain, 21, and Mohammed Hashim Ijazuddin, 21, both from Banbury, Oxfordshire, who were inside the car were pronounced dead at the scene.

Following initial enquiries, two other cars were reported to have been travelling in the area at the same time of the collision.

Three women and two men have previously been charged with murder in connection with the incident, including TikTok star Mahek Bukhari, of George Eardley Close in Stoke.

Her mum Ansreen Bukhari, 45, was one of the other women charged, along with her friend Natasha Akhtar, 21, of Alum Rock Road, Birmingham.

Raees Jamal, 21, of Lingdale Close, Loughborough, and Rekan Karwan, 28, of Tomlin Road Leicester were the other two men to have been charged.

All have been remanded into custody and are expected to attend a crown court plea hearing next Friday (March 18).

A provisional six-week trial is earmarked for Monday, September 26, unless guilty pleas are made ahead of that date.
