Oasis fans are in for a rare treat this Tuesday (December 9), as Tim Abbot — one of the key figures behind the band’s explosive rise to fame — arrives in Leicester for an exclusive book-tour appearance at the LUKE 1977 store in Highcross.
Abbot, who famously appears on the Cigarettes & Alcohol single sleeve, served as Managing Director of Creation Records during Oasis’s ascent to global stardom. He is currently touring the UK to promote his new book OasisDefinitely, and Leicester is one of the select stops where fans will have the chance to meet him in person.

During the event, which takes place from 4pm, visitors can chat with Abbot about the book, which delves into first-hand stories from the band’s chaotic, raw and era-defining early years. He’ll also be discussing The Lost Tapes, his behind-the-camera film project offering unprecedented access to Oasis during their most iconic moments.
Guests attending the Leicester event can expect complimentary drinks and what organisers describe as “special surprises” from both Abbot and LUKE 1977. With capacity limited, fans are encouraged to arrive early to secure entry.
A new collaborative edition of OasisDefinitely will be available to purchase on the day, though attendees are welcome to bring their own copies for a personal signing.
The event also celebrates a long-standing friendship between Abbot and LUKE 1977’s Creative Director, Luke Roper. Both men grew up in Walsall in the West Midlands, and Abbot has supported the brand since its earliest days.
Roper said: “It’s great to collaborate on this exciting project. Tim’s been a great source of stories and inspiration in equal measure. It’s not everyday you get to befriend and work with a local Midlands music legend.”
Abbot added: “I’ve known the lads at LUKE 1977 for a couple of decades now, and I’ve always loved their work. A refreshing story of a couple of Midlands lads done well. Thankfully, no 15-year split for these two! So when it came to picking a partner to showcase this new tour, it was an easy call to make.”
Fans who wish to attend can sign up at the Leicester Highcross store or visit LUKE 1977’s social pages. Walk-ins will be accepted subject to space.
