A picture of a “beautiful, kind and gentle” 28-year-old woman, who died after being hit by a car in Barrow upon Soar has been released by Police.
Caragh Eaton, was fatally injured on Tuesday (September 6), following a collision with a car at around 4.40pm in Field Edge Drive. The car had left the scene.
Her family has asked for privacy to grieve following her tragic death.
Officers were deployed to the area and found the vehicle – a black Land Rover – abandoned.
As a result of information given to police, a 42-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder.
He remains in police custody.
Senior Investigating Officer Mark Parish from East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “A team of detectives are working around the clock to piece together the events of, and leading up to, Caragh’s death.
“Anyone in the community who hasn’t yet spoken to police and who may have information, please contact us. There are officers in the area carrying out enquiries – approach them, or send information online.
“Caragh’s family would like to be left alone at this time to grieve in private,” added a police spokesman.
Tributes for the car enthusiast, who ran a Facebook page for fans like herself, poured in following Caragh’s death.
One wrote on Facebook: “Rip Caragh Eaton, such sad news to hear, you were a beautiful young lady who wouldn’t hurt a fly, so sad to hear what’s happened to her, what a twisted world we live in.”
Another added: “She was just such a gentle and kind soul. This is so tragic, my thoughts go out to her family. I just can’t believe it. RIP.”
While a third also paid tribute, writing: “Such a lovely, kind lady that I am sure will leave a hole in the hearts of those she touched.”
