SERIOUS COLLISION ON A47 LEICESTER

A man has been interviewed on suspicion of dangerous, following a serious collision in Leicester.

Officers are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision on the A47 (Hinckley Road) in Leicester on Monday morning (Monday, September 19).

The collision occurred around 11.35am on the citybound carriageway of the A47, near to the junction with Gooding Avenue, and involved a silver BMW and a blue Seat Leon.

The driver of the BMW left the scene before emergency services arrived. The passenger in the vehicle was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

The driver and passenger in the Seat were taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening/life changing.

A 27-year-old man has been voluntarily interviewed on suspicion of dangerous driving. He has since been released pending further enquiries.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles beforehand. They would also urge anyone who has video recording equipment installed in their vehicles to check the footage and get in touch if they captured anything that may assist with the investigation.
