Almost 1,000 runners took to the streets of Leicester at the weekend for a challenging 10k run, which took in some of the city’s finest sights.
The Run For All Leicester 10K, saw a total of 991 runners of varying abilities lace up their trainers, chasing PBs, cash for charity and their own personal goals in the spring sunshine.
They set off from Jubilee Square before heading into the city centre, up London Road and into Victoria Park.
The scenic landscape of the park then wove runners through the University of Leicester before passing many of the city’s landmarks including the Leicester Museum & Art Gallery and Leicester Cathedral.
The event, on Sunday (March 3) was won by Anthony Woodward of Notts AC Running club, who took home the title in a time of 32 minutes and 37 seconds. He was closely followed by Mat Horrocks in a time of 32:44 and Stephen Blake in 32:55.
Making up the women’s podium was Gemma Steel in 34:40, Carla Davies of Preston Harriers in 35:46 and Charnwood’s Emily Smith in 36:20.
Speaking of her win, Loughborough’s Gemma Steel said: “It was a joy to take part alongside charity runners and elite runners. I love that running brings everyone together. Definitely recommend this race for its great atmosphere, good vibes and nice downhill finish along New Walk, which made it an enjoyable second half to make up for the uphill start up London Road.
“Kudos to everyone who braved this undulating course.”
All finishers were rewarded with a goodie bag and an exclusive medal for their efforts.
