Appeal after dead dog found in a canal in Market Harborough

The RSPCA is hoping to find the owner of a dog who was discovered dead in the canal in Market Harborough. 

The body of the female black terrier type dog was removed from the canal on January 23, although it is thought the body had been in the water for a number of days.

The body was discovered at the canal entrance near to Great Bowden Hall.

A cause of death could not be established by a vet – due to the body being in the water for some time. 

RSPCA Inspector Beckie Harlock  said: “It must have been very upsetting for passers-by to discover the dog, and I’d like to say thank you to them for reporting this to us.

“We don’t know how the dog came to be in the water so if anyone recognises the description, or is currently searching for this dog, I’d ask them to contact me on 0300 123 8018, quoting incident number 01434009.”
