Still time to sign up for Sunday’s Leicester Half Marathon!

Thousands of runners from around the county and beyond are to take to Leicester’s streets next weekend, for the city’s annual half marathon.

The race, this Sunday, October 13, will begin and end in Leicester’s Victoria Park. There will also be a shorter 10k race on the day. The course will take runners on a tour of Leicester’s city centre streets, including London Road, St George’s Way, Charles Street and Belgrave Gate.

It then heads through Melton Road and out towards Thurmaston, Watermead Country Park and Birstall.

The race then returns via Red Hill Circle and parts of Loughborough and Thurcaston Road, and then joins the riverside path.

From there the route will return to the city via Abbey Park and the city centre, before continuing up New Walk via De Montfort Street and University Road on its way back the the finish.

It means a series of rolling road closures will be in place to enable the runners to pass safely.

The 10k race will follow the same route as far as Melton Road, before travelling along Loughborough Road, Holden Street and Ross Walk to re-join the riverside path, past the Space Centre and Abbey Park on its way back to the city.

People can still sign up to run until midnight on Wednesday (October 9). There will be no entries on the day.
