Information is sought after a severely ill dog was found abandoned in a bush in Rally Park Leicester.
The 10 year-old female Shar Pei, was thin, struggling to walk and had a large burst abscess on her neck as well as deep ingrown nails and a large tumour on her tongue.
She was rushed to a vet for treatment and examination but sadly was in such a poor condition that the kindest thing to do for her was to put her to sleep to prevent her suffering further.
She was checked for a microchip and was found to be called Shyla.
RSPCA Inspector Karl Marston is investigating the incident and said: “Poor Shyla was in an incredibly awful state and it’s heartbreaking to think that someone had left her like this for so long to suffer – and then just dumped her in a park scared and alone.
“Her condition was appalling; she had an awful tumour in her mouth, a burst abscess on her neck and her ingrown nails were so long they were curling back and coming through the top of her paw.
“While sadly nothing more could be done to save her – I am determined to find the person responsible for allowing her to suffer in this state and I am appealing to the public for help.
“Shyla was found in Rally Park, Leicester at around 18.45pm on September 21. We are very grateful to the member of the public who found her and kept her safe overnight.
