The home prepared a birthday cake along with an afternoon tea which was enjoyed by Stanley and his family.

The coffee bar was decorated with balloons and banners and Stanley’s family bought some flowers for him.

The highlight of the day however was the telegram Stanley received from the king, something he was really proud of.

Sherrill Richards, care assistant said: “Stanley has a great time celebrating his birthday with his family.

“Its his first birthday that he has spent at MHA Aigburth as he only moved into the home in January, but it was a landmark and we had to celebrate it.
