Jon Ashworth loses out to independent
In the 2024 Leicester city election, voters headed to the polls to elect new representatives with some surprising outcomes.
One such shock was the loss of Labour’s Jonathan Ashworth in Leicester South to independent candidate Shockat Adam.
In Leicester East, Shivani Raja secured a win for the Conservative Party, defeating Labour candidate Rajesh Agrawal, turning Leicester East blue for the first time in over 40 years.
The election took place with updated constituency boundaries in use.
