Vaisakhi in Leicester

THOUSANDS of Sikhs took to Leicester’s streets over the weekend for the annual Vaisakhi procession.

The event, known as Nagar Kirtan, took place on Sunday, April 28, and saw thousands of people taking part on the walk between two of the city’s best-known Sikh temples, or Gurdwaras, despite the rain.

The procession set off from Guru Nanak Gurdwara, on Holy Bones, at 11.30am and made its way across the city to arrived at the Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara, East Park Road, at around 3pm.
