The knockout “celebration of the British pun” show has been running since 2014. Taking place in a boxing ring at De Montfort Hall, this year’s show was hosted, as in previous years, by Jason Byrne.

The live show followed the format of a rap battle and took place in a boxing ring surrounded by the audience who sat in the round.  Topics were picked randomly, with competitors then taking it in turns to pun about that particular topic.

Audiences voted for their favourite pun (by way of woops & cheers) with the winner going through to the next round. After a full evening of pun based comedy, two finalists then fought it out until the winner was crowned.

Pulsford’s lines included “My old Looney Tunes app still has Bugs in it.”

The other finalists in this year’s competition were Pauline EyreFriz FrizzleIain MacDonaldRob ThomasChris Norton WalkerRichard Woolford and Jenan Younis.
