A man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of a Leicester woman, who was reported missing last Friday (September 1).
Gabriela Kosilko was reported missing after she failed to return home following her shift at work the previous evening.
Since Gabriela was reported missing, officers have carried out a number of enquiries and they are increasingly concerned for her welfare.
From these enquiries, we have identified that 26-year-old Gabriela was last seen at a shop in Fosse Road North around 11.30pm on Thursday (31 August), where she bought some food and drinks.
Her car, a red Audi A1, was found in Ratby Lane, Leicester, at 4.20pm on Friday.
As part of the ongoing enquiries to locate Gabriela, searches are being conducted in the Newtown Linford Lane area and around Groby Pool.
Today (Tuesday 5 September) officers from the Tactical Support Team (TST) are conducting water searches in the Groby Pool area.
An area behind Tescos in Beaumont Leys was cordoned off as part of the investigation, but that scene has since been lifted.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Gabriela’s disappearance, he remains in police custody where he is assisting officers with their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Laura Sanderson from the force’s Missing Person’s Operations Team (MPOT), said: “As time goes by we are growing increasingly concerned for Gabriela’s welfare. Since she was last seen in Fosse Road North there have been no further sightings of her. However, we believe that the location of where her vehicle was seen and located may hold the key to helping us find Gabriela.
“While the arrest is significant for our investigation this remains a missing person’s enquiry and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen Gabriela since Thursday evening.
“If you were driving along Newtown Linford Lane around 2.20pm on Friday (1 September) please check your dashcam footage and get in touch if you captured a red Audi A1 parked on the side of the road or saw anyone driving it or sitting in the vehicle. Equally, if you were in Ratby Lane during Friday afternoon please get in touch if you saw the vehicle or anything which seemed unusual or caused you concern.
Anyone who can assist with enquiries is asked to contact 101, quoting incident 484 of 1 September.
