Bosworth Medieval Medley to Take Place this Weekend

Hundreds of people are expected to attend an annual event, designed to mark the Battle of Bosworth this weekend.

The two-day Bosworth Medieval Medley which takes place over the weekend of Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August, will see hundreds of visitors, re-enactors and Richard III enthusiasts descend on Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre.

The event will feature an insight into the day-to-day workings of a battle camp, where visitors are encouraged to engage with the re-enactors, and can also see a narrated fashion show with outfits from that era.

There is also a walk-through of the battle of Bosworth where visitors have a chance to participate, along with other family-friendly activities, archery and combat demonstrations, guided walks, table top war gaming and a fancy-dress competition for children.

Specialist interest groups, including the Richard III Society, Battlefield Trust, Sikh Community Curators and Hijaz Trust will also be attending, giving visitors the opportunity to find out more about the context of the battle, council’s wider cared for collections and the historical content of other communities at the time of the Wars of the Roses.

Councillor Christine Radford, cabinet member for adults and communities said: “We really enjoy hosting an annual event to mark the Battle of Bosworth and this year’s Bosworth Medieval Medley is set to be another great event.

“This historic battle is part of Leicestershire’s rich heritage, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to spend the weekend taking in the medieval-themed sights, sounds and experiences.”

Tickets are £5 per adult and £3.50 per child with under 3s free. The same programme will run on both days. Parking is also free on both days.
