A huge bonfire was lit to signify the burning of the wicked ‘Holika’ who tried to kill her nephew ‘Prahlad and aims to show how good triumphs over evil.

Holi which marks the arrival of spring and the end of winter is also known as the festival of colours with many of the devotees celebrating by throwing powder paint over each other.

Rajesh Patel, Secretary, Shree Hanuman Temple said: “It was a joyous occasion and wonderful to see people of all ages having fun at such a significant event in our calendar.

“It was also an honour to welcome our local councillors who have all been very supportive.

“We are thankful to all the residents of Rushey Mead and the surrounding areas who attended the event and to all the volunteers who helped to make the festival a success.”
