A Leicester professor has been shortlisted for the prestigious OUP Law Teacher of the Year Award 2023.
Professor Kimberley Brayson, who is a Professor of Critical Jurisprudence at University of Leicester’s School of Law, has been shortlisted alongside four other candidates from across the UK.
Sponsored by Oxford University Press, the Law Teacher of the Year Award recognises the contributions of teachers in producing tomorrow’s lawyers.
The full list of nominees for Law Lecturer of the Year is:

- Andrew Sanger, Associate Professor in International Law – University of Cambridge
- Rob Stokes, Professor – University of Liverpool
- Jo Wilson, Lecturer in Commercial Law – University of Sussex
- Sadie Whittam, Lecturer in Law – University of Lancaster
A judging panel will attend the University of Leicester and meet with Professor Brayson, colleagues and students before the end of March before making a final decision on the winner.
The winner of the award will be announced at the Celebrating Excellence in Law Teaching conference on Friday, June 16.
After making it onto the shortlist for the Law Teacher of the Year Award, Professor Brayson said: “It’s a huge privilege to be nominated for this award alongside excellent colleagues from various institutions who are all equally worthy winners.
“It’s also important to acknowledge that there are so so many colleagues doing innovative and important work in teaching law across the HE sector who are not listed here.
“Teaching is always and necessarily a collaborative effort so I am very grateful to wonderful colleagues and amazing students at Leicester and beyond who make this work possible every day.”
