Nominations are sought in seven different categories: Community Award, Business Award, Entrepreneur Award, Working Professional Award, Young Achiever, Sports/Media Personality Award and Lifetime Achievement Award.

“These awards are a platform for the people who deserve to be seen, and the stories which deserve to be heard,” said Romail Gulzar, founder of Pukaar Group.

“They are a chance to bring the community together in a celebration of strength, solidarity and achievement; to remember the struggles of the past, but also celebrate the present and the amazing promise of the future.

“We have a wealth of talent here in Leicester – black individuals and organisations who are all doing brilliant work and really making a difference. If you know someone who deserves to be recognised, please don’t hesitate to put their name forward.”

The Black History Month Awards are being held in association with the Royal Air Force.

A special red carpet/black tie event will take place to announce the winners of each category, complete with a three course meal and entertainment.

Nominations will close on September 22 and can be made by visiting: https://blackhistorymonthawards.com/nomination/
