POLICE APPEAL AFTER SECOND MAN DIES AT DOWNLOAD ROCK FESTIVAL

A second man has died after becoming unwell at Leicestershire’s Download rock festival, which was held over the weekend.

Leicestershire Police said they received reports a man was suffering a suspected cardiac arrest at Download, in Castle Donington, at 12:48pm on Saturday (June 11).

The man, said to be in his 30s, was taken to the onsite medical centre but died a short while later.

On Monday, police confirmed that another man died at the festival, which was attended by around 100,000 people.

Leicestershire Police are appealing to speak to a witness who gave information to a paramedic on Saturday night, when the first man became unwell. He is not suspected of any wrongdoing.

Detective Inspector Rob Arthur said: “If you were this person please make contact with us. I must stress you are not in any trouble. We simply want to speak with you as a witness as you may be able to help us with our enquiries to establish the full circumstances regarding what has happened.”

Both deaths are currently being treated as unexplained while officers carry out enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
