12-year-old Olivia Rowe, whose mum, Jo works in the IT department at the company, won the competition with her unique ‘off the wall’ brick themed design.

A pupil at Market Bosworth High School, where she recently won another art project, Olivia, age 12, paid a VIP visit to Druck recently.

Picked up from school in a chauffeur driven car she received a specially framed version of her design and posed for photos with a flag that sported her logo.

“Winning two competitions in two weeks was very surprising, but great!” she said.

“It was brilliant seeing my Druck design flying high next to the Union Jack.

“We were overwhelmed with the quantity and quality of entries, but Olivia’s design was the clear winner,” said Gordon Docherty, vice president of Druck, a Baker Hughes business.

“We were impressed that she had done her research, basing her design on our pressure sensor technologies that are deployed on space missions.”

Gordon also talked about his company’s 50th anniversary: “In 1972 our founders, Mike Bertioli and his business partner, John Salmon, formed a new company developing technology to measure pressure.  They named the business, Druck, the German word for pressure.

“50 years later, I’m proud to be leading an exceptionally talented and committed 800 strong global team, headquartered in Groby, that develops world class pressure measurement technology across sectors including the environment, aerospace, transport, motor-sport, meteorology, manufacturing, energy and even space travel,” he said.
