PENSIONER DEAD TEN DAYS AFTER ALTERCATION AT WIGSTON BUS STOP

A 78-year-old man has died, ten days after being pushed over at a bus stop in Wigston.

The unnamed pensioner was pushed to the ground at around 2pm on October 15, during an altercation at a bus stop in Long Street, close to its junction with Bell Street.

He was taken to hospital shortly after the incident, but discharged later that evening.

The pensioner died from ‘medical complications’ on October 25 – just ten days after the incident took place.

Now, Leicestershire Police has launched a full investigation into the circumstances of his death. They are keen to establish whether it was connected to the bus stop altercation.

A 58-year-old man was been arrested in connection with the incident, but has been released as investigations continue.

Appealing for witnesses, a spokesman for Leicestershire Police said : “Please think back – were you walking past the bus stop at that time? Were you waiting for a bus at the time or did you get off a bus at the stop at that time? Did you see what happened?’
